League Overview: Albion Field Hockey's Competitive League is centered around an athlete wanting to pursue field hockey in college or is looking for intensive training to increase their skills to play with their respective school teams. The training sessions, when not in season for their school, will be mandatory, unless previously cleared with the coaching staff. Player's commitment to attend practices is paramount for the entire team to achieve continued growth.
Practice Schedule: Generally, each team will have two-three practices during the week. The weekdays and times will be posted under their respective age group. Practices are mandatory for all players, even when a player's school is in season. If a player's school team has weekend tournament or game, that practice will be excused, so the player can partake with their school.
Age Groups:
U8: Only 1st and 2nd Graders whose birthdates that fall after 8/1/2017
U10: Birthdates that fall between 8/1/2015 - 7/31/2017
U12: Birthdates that fall between 8/1/2013 - 7/31/2015
U14: Birthdates that fall between 8/1/2011 - 7/31/2013
U16: Birthdates that fall between 8/1/2009 - 7/31/2011
U19: Birthdates that fall between 1/1/2006 - 7/31/2009
Travel: While field hockey in the state of Texas is growing, it is still not at the point where there are in-state tournament opportunities. We are actively working with other clubs in the state of Texas to hold play days and other tournament sessions that are more close to home. Without access to local tournaments, we must travel to take part in tournament opportunities where players can get attention from college coaches and players can get access to real life playing opportunities to put their training into practice. To that end, we will have tournament opportunities at every level. Some age groups will have more opportunities than others. Be mindful that many of these tournaments will occur when your players are off from school, such as Thanksgiving, Easter, Summer vacation, etc. We try to limit how many tournaments we attend on a yearly basis, but one travel tournament per season (fall/winter/spring) will be required throughout the year as part of being on the competitive team.
Uniforms: Albion Field Hockey Club uses Capelli Sport as our uniform provider. After a player is registered for their respective age group, an email from Capelli will follow in the days after their registration. When that email is received, please order their uniforms as soon as possible to ensure they arrive in time for the start of the regular season. As part of the package, there will be both practice and tournament uniforms. The practice uniform is the only accepted uniform for practices.
College Assistance Program (CAP): As our competitive players begin to this about their futures surrounding playing in college, we are here to provide all the necessary support to make that happen. The Albion Field Hockey College Assistance Program (AFHC-CAP) provides personalized guidance through every step of the college recruiting process. To read more, check out our CAP page here.
